TOLEDO, OH, June 16, 2017:

The Board of Trustees of the Toledo Community Foundation has approved a grant to Social Services for the Arab Community (SSFAC) in the amount of $13,300. These funds will be used to strengthen 12 Arab immigrants and/or refugees’ financial knowledge by teaching them basic financial skills.

The Toledo Community Foundation grant will be used to help low-income, limited-English Arab immigrants and refugees in Greater Toledo to develop the confidence to effectively use the banking system and to obtain important financial goals. SSFAC’s FLEP will also encourage participants to obtain a positive, goal-oriented attitude to achieve financial independence.  Assisting Arab immigrants and refugees to become financially literate will promote stable neighborhoods and contribute to the economic vitality of the entire Greater Toledo community.

We are collaborating with Fifth Third Bank to empower our served population by providing them with basic financial knowledge that will help them for the rest of their lives with a huge impact on their future and on the Toledo Community as a whole.” said Lona Lakatos, Executive Director of SSFAC.
