SSFAC & Read for Literacy
SSFAC is collaborating with Read for Literacy in their new program "Creating Family Readers" that will assist families with their reading, writing and English skills. The program started on September 19, 2016 and will end on November 21, 2016. This program is being hosted at the Sylvania United Church of Christ in Sylvania, OH.
August, 2017- SSFAC and Read for Literacy collaborated again in their program "Creating Family Readers" for the 2nd year in a row.
SSFAC would like to give a big thank you to IBM and IBM volunteers for their generous grant of $2K towards our Family Education Plan (FEP) Program to help immigrant and refugee adults with their English skills & Arab immigrant and refugee families' children with their school homework. Special thank you goes to Kayed Almasarweh for helping SSFAC obtain this grant.
The Episcopal Diocese of Ohio Grant : Big thank you goes to The Episcopal Diocese of Ohio for their generous grant totaling $6,925 towards our Financial Literacy Educational Program (FLEP) running for the second year, in collaboration with Fifth Third Bank. Thank you also for Trinity Episcopal Church and Jamie Rye for giving us office space and their conference room to run the program out of.
Contract Finalized between Sylvania Schools District & SSFAC:
SSFAC is very happy to announce our newest contract with Sylvania Schools District. Now SSFAC's staff are Sylvania Schools formal translators. SSFAC has been assisting Sylvania Schools parents & students since 2012.
Toledo Public Schools and SSFAC Contract:
SSFAC continues its contract with Toledo Public Schools.
5/25/2017 We are very thrilled to announce that we have received a generous grant towards our Family Education Plan Literacy program (FEP) from the Dollar General Literacy Foundation. We are so very thankful for all the foundations that recognize our work.
6/18/2017 We are very thankful for the Toledo Community Foundation, Inc. for supporting SSFAC's Financial Literacy Educational Program (FLEP); a program that is done in collaboration with Fifth Third Bank, and is designed to strengthen the basic financial knowledge of Arab immigrants and refugees in the Toledo Community.
